Staff Mental Health & Wellbeing Statement

Leaders place a high priority on staff mental health and wellbeing. They recognise that the demands of early years practice are significant and take proactive steps to ensure that staff feel supported, valued and able to carry out their roles effectively.

There is a strong culture of openness, where staff feel confident to share concerns and seek support. Leaders actively monitor workload and make appropriate adjustments to reduce unnecessary pressures. This helps staff to maintain a positive work–life balance.

Wellbeing is embedded into the daily life of the setting. Staff benefit from regular check-ins, access to appropriate support, and opportunities to reflect on their practice. As a result, staff report high levels of morale and feel respected and listened to.

This focus on wellbeing contributes to a stable and committed staff team. Staff are calm, attentive and emotionally available, which has a positive impact on children’s sense of security and their overall development.

Leaders understand that supporting staff wellbeing is essential to maintaining high-quality provision and achieving the best outcomes for children.

To support our staff and their families , we offer a Health & Wellbeing Service through Schools Advisory Service (SAS), where staff have access to services such as GP and Nurse support when they are unable to access their own practice, counselling, physiotherapy, and even an online Gym and more! They have access 24/7 via the SAS portal.

We also have an open door policy for staff for staff if they need to talk to a member of the Senior Leadership Team, or one of our 2 trained Mental Health First Aiders., Mrs Phillips and Miss Ward.

Staff also have regular supervisions, both as groups and individuals and complete wellness plans to ensure we can best support them when they need it the most.
